- Description
- Photographs of the Rose for Pasadena, created by Hanover Park artist Buck Warren (real name: Frank Gineman) and unveiled in 1981. It was also called The J. Stanley Coyne Rose. (J. Stanley Coyne was the creator of an American textile service and also had a foundation in his name.) According to a Chicago Tribune article from October 22nd, 1981, the artist created the 25-foot-tall sculpture (weighing 27,000 pounds) from a 35-ton log.
The rose was sent to stand in front of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, which was the inspiration for the rose. The unveiling of the rose took place at Tradewinds Shopping Center in Hanover Park on October 15th, 1981. The Hanover Park Historic Committee has a one foot tall replica of the rose in their collection. Creators of the photographs are unknown.
