Streamwood and Hanover Park Stories Oral History Project FAQ

What is the Streamwood and Hanover Park Stories Oral History Project?

YOU can help us preserve our community’s history by recording an interview with us! We want to preserve for future generations what it was like to live, work, play, and learn in Streamwood and Hanover Park. Your stories will help us do just that!

    Who is eligible?

Anyone who has lived or worked in Streamwood or Hanover Park for a significant period of time or during a significant event in village history is able to participate, provided they are age eighteen or up. You do not have to be a current resident. PCPLD reserves the right to not accept every request for an interview.

    How will it work?

The Local History Librarian will contact you to set up a time and date to conduct the interview. Interviews will be conducted during library hours Monday through Friday, although possible accommodations can be made. The librarian will give you an overview of the interview and some discussion questions. Your interview will be recorded with a librarian in our Studio, lasting between 15 to 60 minutes long. Recordings in the Studio are encouraged, but interviews may also be conducted outside of the library. We can interview up to two people at a time.

What will the library do with these interviews?

PCPLD will display the interviews in our Digital History Collection. You will sign a form allowing PCPLD to share your interview.

What if I don’t have any interesting stories to share?

Everyone’s Streamwood and Hanover Park stories are important!

I’d love to share my story but I have more questions! Who can I contact?

Please contact Lisa at (331) 808-3535 or email history@pclib.org to answer any questions or to schedule an interview.
